I have a file on my desktop labeled as above. This is my list of things I have to go looking for EVERY SINGLE TIME because they are in fact Stupid Fiddly Things that I can't remember how to do.
Today's entry reads as follows (ahem)
The Search panel
Why it is necessary to hide this and when you find it make it impossible to stick to the desktop is beyond me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously pissed off!
Open file folder
Go into help menu
Type in ‘finding files and folders’
'To find a file or folder using the Search folder'
'Click to open Search'.
Now I can’t remember what I was looking for.
...
Seriously there doesn't seem to be any other way of finding that nice search box that allows you to decide how big the file was, approximately when you made it, what type of file it was etc. I must be doing something wrong as I have hunted round the net and no-one else seems to be having this problem.
Does windows 7 work any better, people? Anyone?

I have the same problem with that thingy that puts your computer back to before you messed it up downloading things that looked ok but were'n't. Mainly because I can't remember what it is called to look it up.
Yep, that sort of thing!
for me it is shortcuts for international characters... oh, and how to uninstall stuff in Vista when it insists that I must be an administrator to do it... and I am!
ah yes the administrator thing was explained to me...you see there are administrators and administrator priviliges and those are different...ok, never mind.
