Vermont's largest city has a new snowfall record.
The National Weather Service says 33.1 inches of snow fell at the Burlington International Airport from 7 a.m. Saturday to midnight Sunday, an all-time record for a single storm. The previous record of nearly 30 inches was set in 1969.

For hundreds of people making their way home from a long New Year's weekend the going was slow. Plows made several passes of the roads throughout the day, Sunday, but it just kept piling up. No major accidents reported.
At the airport it was an easy morning followed by a rough afternoon. Most early flights made it in and out on time, which was good news for travelers who went to the airport worried about the weather.
Simply getting out of the house was quite a hassle. Cars and driveways buried under nearly three feet of snow. Most people took it in stride though.
"Well, I try to help out the neighbors, you know, some of them are kind of helpless," said Tom Cannon, as he plowed his driveway. "And I'm retired. I don't have much to do. It's something to do and it keeps me busy."
Firefighters were thankfully not battling flames, which was a good thing because most hydrants were buried. Crews want to remind residents to dig out the fire hydrant closest to their house because tankers only carry a bit of water and depend on quick access to hydrants to keep a fire from spreading.
"We urge people to adopt their local fire hydrant. Make it a part of your family," said Burlington Assistant Fire Marshall, Tom Middleton. "When you're done shoveling your driveway, go out and shovel out your hydrant if you would. It could save your house, it could save your neighbor's house."
