I was going to write a comment answering Mum's comment but it got unweildy. I am joking really about making fun of the concert. If I thought I was going to be REALLY cynical about it I wouldn't go, but I am actually interested to see how they look at their heritage from this side of the Atlantic. Vermont does have a huge 'Irish' (3rd generation) population and they also import actual Irish people on occasion - Dervish are going to be playing at another concert at the weekend for example.
I guess when it comes down to it they are entitled to change things to suit their ex-pat status. Or something. I think what I mean is that to slavishly be exactly like Ireland while never having lived there would be sad, while to celebrate being an Irish-American could be kinda fun.
On the other hand they are almost worse with the "National Drinking Holiday" malarkey than at home, so that is bad.
Hmm, explanation of deep thought (or even shallow thought) not really my forte, I might go back to snarky remarks.

I, for one, being one of those Irish-Americans (ok, well, actually Scotch-Irish...not sure how that fits into the whole love/hate Americans who think they're Irish thing)...anyway, I thoroughly enjoy St. Patty's Day and all things Irish, no matter how much ridicule I get from all you cynics. :-)
