Stunning new satellite image shows extent of arctic weather gripping Britain

Jan 8 2010

Ok, so we're all sick to the back teeth of the snow. But you've got to admit ... it doesn't half look beautiful from space.

This amazing image of Britain completely covered in snow and ice was captured by NASA's Terra satellite and beamed to a receiving centre at Dundee University. From Land's End to John O'Groats, the whole of our island is frozen, with only the big cities providing spots of grey in the vast expanse of white.

It looks nice and green in the south of Ireland though. Let's all go there!

The Terra satellite is nearly 10 years into a 15-year mission to gather data for scientists studying our planet.
